ZTE Launches Portable 5G Wi-Fi Device with Built-in eSIM and Touchscreen Display
Chinese brand ZTE, which operates an Australian subsidiary, has launched its latest portable 5G Wi-Fi device, the U30 Pro, promising fast, flexible and cable-free connectivity.
Building on the earlier U30 Air, the U30 Pro features a compact, pocket-friendly design with a major upgrade of a front-facing colour touchscreen display.
This screen shows vital info such as network status, upload/download speeds, data usage and Wi-Fi details, while doubling as a control hub.
Users can update firmware, switch between SIM profiles, and adjust settings directly on the device.
One of the standout features is the built-in chip SIM (eSIM) system, which eliminates the need for a physical SIM card.
Users can scan to buy internet packages and switch between multiple embedded SIM profiles via the touchscreen interface, enabling easy carrier changes without fiddling with SIM trays.

The U30 Pro packs a 5000mAh battery for up to 12 hours of continuous use and supports USB-C charging.
It also doubles as a wired data connection when needed. Connectivity-wise, it offers ultra-fast 5G uplink speeds up to 1200Mbps, supports both 5G and 4G networks and features Wi-Fi 6 technology for real-world speeds exceeding 150Mbps.
The device can connect to 20 devices simultaneously across 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands and boasts a “super antenna” for full 360-degree coverage.
Additional features include NFC for quick pairing and Samba support for file sharing across Windows, macOS, and mobile devices.
At 149mm × 69.8mm × 12.5mm and weighing 171 grams, the U30 Pro is designed to fit easily in pockets or bags, making it ideal for on-the-go users.
In a competitive market, ZTE’s U30 Pro aims to stand out alongside recent offerings from Huawei and D-Link.
