YouTube TV Brings 5.1 To More Smart TVs

YouTube TV will be bringing 5.1 channel audio to a number of new televisions, a year after first rolling out the feature on select Samsung and LG screens.

YouTube issued the “exciting new update” on Twitter, explaining that: “If you enjoy YouTubeTV, you’ll soon be able to watch programs with 5.1 Audio on Chromecast with Google TV and other Android TV OS devices.

“Everything that sounds great will now sound even greater.”

This means the feature will also be coming to Roku devices that run Colbat 20 or higher.

Unfortunately, this also leaves out Apple TV, PlayStation and Xbox users.

According to YouTube TV Support, if your TV meets the requirements to access and play 5.1 channel surround sound, it should come on automatically, provided the program or movie is being provided in 5.1 by the content source.
