1GB Broadband Coming Soon

The commercial-grade broadband service will travel at download speeds of up to 1000Mbps and upload speeds of 400Mbps, a spokesman has confirmed.

The 1Gbps service was first forecast by former CEO Mike Quigley in 2010.

However likely pricing of the high-speed service has not been revealed, and will depend on complex charging arrangements offered to retail service providers.

Perth-based iiNet has confirmed it is working on plans to launch a 1Gbps service, but so far there is no news on the likely cost to subscribers.

This includes a basic monthly access charge for each active connection plus a yet-to-be-determined ”CVC charge” covering the speed and capacity NBN Co supplies to each retailer’s customers within a fibre serving area.
