LG has taken wireless out of the display screen for its new 97-inch SIGNATURE OLED M and stuck it in a box with the first units now shipping into the U.S. and Europe.
At this stage, LG have not said if or when the unusual new TV will be launched in Australia with several media in the U.S. labelling it “expensive”.
Described as the world’s first wireless OLED TV the recently released model is now selling for close to $54,000 overseas.
The LG Signature OLED M requires little wiring with only a power cable required when the TV is wall-mounted similar to the clear Samsung cable.
All other connections including video, audio, and network connectivity can be picked up wirelessly to the screen from a large black cube that is the TV’s smart station.
The installation is streamlined for the Signature OLED M which a reviewer claims is helpful when installing a mammoth sized TV.
With this model, there is no need to run HDMI, optical, or Ethernet cables inside the wall and conversely, other stand-mount models in the M-Series, let you position your TV wherever you like.
For consumers ready to put down their credit card, there’s one stipulation to consider.
To increase the space between the Zero Connect Box and the OLED M’s screen, the box must be arranged in a route facing the screen, according to LG.
“The technical feat of the 97M3 was made with LG’s decade-long commitment to creating new customer value as a market pioneer,” said Baik Seon-pill, leader of the LG Home Entertainment Company’s Product Development Division.
“As well as delivering the ultimate viewing experience on an ultra-large screen, our first-of-its-kind wireless LG SIGNATURE OLED M presents customers with a new level of freedom in arranging their living spaces.”
