Google has begun rolling out Wear OS 7 to recent Pixel Watch models, introducing a range of new features focused on personalisation, artificial intelligence and improved day-to-day usability.

The software update is now available for Pixel Watch 2, Pixel Watch 3 and the newly released Pixel Watch 4, bringing a refreshed user experience that builds on changes first revealed at Google’s I/O 2026 developer conference.

Among the most notable additions is deeper integration of Gemini, Google’s artificial intelligence platform. The update introduces a new widget creation tool that allows users to generate customised watch dashboards using natural language commands. Rather than manually configuring layouts, users can simply describe the information they want to see, and Gemini creates a tailored widget experience.

Wear OS 7 also adds Live Updates, a feature designed to surface real-time information directly on the watch face. This can include sports scores, workout progress, food delivery tracking and other time-sensitive notifications, reducing the need to open individual applications.

The update further expands how Pixel Watches interact with connected devices. Users can now manage compatible earbuds, speakers and future Android XR smart glasses directly from their wrist. Google says the feature will allow wearers to review photos captured with upcoming smart glasses and control audio playback across multiple connected devices.

Gemini’s capabilities extend beyond information delivery. The system can now assist with multi-step actions through conversational commands, allowing users to complete tasks such as booking fitness classes or placing restaurant orders using natural language.

Google has also introduced its Neural Express design language to the smartwatch platform. The interface is designed to provide more contextual suggestions based on information from services such as Gmail, Search and previous interactions with Gemini.

Battery performance has also received attention. According to Google, Wear OS 7 can deliver an average battery life improvement of around 10 per cent compared with previous software versions. The gains complement the faster charging technology introduced with the Pixel Watch 4, helping users spend less time connected to a charger.

The release marks one of the most significant updates to Google’s smartwatch platform in recent years, with artificial intelligence becoming increasingly central to the user experience. While the software is currently limited to Pixel Watch devices, Google has not yet confirmed when Wear OS 7 will become available on smartwatches from Samsung and other manufacturers using the operating system.

As competition in the smartwatch market continues to intensify, the latest update signals Google’s intention to make AI-powered assistance a core part of wearable technology rather than an optional feature.
