A research study by ChannelNews reveals that the Hi Fi industry only wants one event with several distributors claiming that there is not room for two events.
Currently the StereoNet run show is going head-to-head with the Chester run Australian Hi-fi & AV Show, which was cancelled last year.
Industry executives claim that the most popular show is the StereoNet Hi Fi show.
According to Phil Sayer the CEO of Synergy there is “not room in the Australian market for two shows”.
The UK based Chester Group has outsourced their show with a spruiking Company employed to sell a 2022 Hi Fi event.
This week industry executives were sent an EDM email from Rebecca Hunter the CEO of Event Link Logistics
She claims she is working closely with the Chester Group and the Australian Hifi and AV show to hopefully bring together a show in 2022.
She wrote ‘I am currently ringing and emailing around to previous exhibitors to understand your position on potentially exhibiting if we were to proceed; and have attached our brochure which outlines the dates, location and suite prices as well as all other information should the show go ahead. I did try calling but was unable to get through”.
She added ‘Please disregard the information stating the local organiser is Andrew Smarelli as I have now taken over this position’.
Several vendors have told ChannelNews that the Chester run event was “poorly” run and poorly attended.
“It was tyre kickers and industry executives talking to themselves in the past. What we need at an event is people with serious money to invest in high end audio”.
The StereoNet Hi-Fi Show is the largest show of its type held in Australasia showcasing a broad range of Consumer Electronics claims event organisers.
The 2022 show will also incorporate Australia’s only three-day record fair which attracts vendors and attendees from across Australia for the latest in rare, collectible, and new vinyl records.
