When Australia Goes Pear Shaped Huawei Opens Flagship Store

SHANGHAI: Huawei Technologies will open a massive 5000-square metre flagship store in a major shopping district of Shanghai this week.

The unveiling comes a year after Beijing speedily granted 5G commercial licences to operators. 

Huawei has increased its domestic market share to as much as 41 percent in Q1 of this year, well ahead of its largest domestic competitor Oppo’s 17.2 percent, according to research firm Canalys.

Beijing, meanwhile, has released its latest 5G statistics, revealing that 36 million subscribers have signed up for 5G services to far – seven million in April alone.

In the UK, the Chinese tech giant is expected to receive planning permission this week to build a US$495 million research and development centre near Cambridge.
