More Bad News For WPP PR

Adams a former PR Manager at Microsoft, is looking to build the Toshiba brand across several divisions including, notebooks, medical equipment, copying and notebooks.

It also follows the appointment of Mark Whittard to the role of Managing Director of Toshiba Australia. Previously Whittard was General Manager of Toshiba’s ISD division.

For WPP the dumping is a big blow. Two weeks ago, Pulse Communications was dropped by Vodafone and there are also rumours that one of Howorth’s other major IT clients, is set to call a pitch.

Earlier this month, Pulse held a press conference for Sonos CEO and founder Thomas Cullen. The event held in a bar in Sydney failed to attract many journalists despite Sonos being a hot wireless audio product that can now be controlled via an iPod or iPhone.

Also under review is one of the top three consumer electronic brands in the TV and appliance market, with two WPP PR agencies in Australia pitching for the business. Our understanding is that the parent company wants to change agencies but local management are resisting the appointment of a new agency.
