Twitter Blue subscribers are now able to download videos shared to ‘X’ by other subscribers due to an update saying all new videos will be eligible for download, unless the poster specifically opts out.

However, there’s a catch. There is an age limit so if the user’s “account is under the age of 18,” downloads won’t be turned on.

And if the Twitter Blue subscriber who posts the video has their account set to private, than only accounts they’ve allowed to follow can view the video, let alone download it.

If the user wants to opt out of having downloadable videos, it can done on a per-tweet basis, as there is no persistent setting mentioned.

Other than these, there are no limitation when it comes to downloading videos on ‘X’. Considering the app now allows for up to two hour videos to be uploaded, it appears the company could be heading for yet anther legal battle surrounding copyrighted material.

Elon Musk has been working on making the platform more appealing by implementing a string of other changes including ad revenue sharing. Adding downloadable videos puts it in line with TikTok and Instagram.
