Bill Gates Dumps $882M Microsoft Shares

Bill Gates has gone soft on Microsoft shares, selling US $882 million worth over five days from July 24 to July 30, according to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Mr Gates was once Microsoft’s bigger single shareholder, but after selling around 80 million shares per year, his run as top Microsoft shareholder ended in April, with former CEO Steve Ballmer assuming the mantle.

Computerworld’s Gregg Keizer notes that if Mr Gates continued selling his shares at 20 million per quarter, he will have sold them all by September 2018, although whether Mr Gates intends selling his entire holding in Microsoft is yet to be seen.
Bill Gates earlier stepped down from his role as Microsoft’s Chairman, and has spent the last few years heading up the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, helping to fund medical vaccine research.
Mr Gates has also been part of the push to transform the US Education system with “Common Core”, a US set of nationwide teaching standards that has been under fire by US Conservative groups for dumbing down education.
