TikTok & Warner Music Sign Expansion Licensing Agreement

A wide-ranging partnership has been announced between TikTok and Warner Music Group, giving TikTok access to Warner’s giant repertoire, and creating potential for new revenue opportunities.

The deal is for the expansion of the level of partnership between the two companies, utilising TikTok’s revenue and promotion capabilities to deepen engagement of artists, with passionate music fans.

The two also agreed to a licensing deal for TikTok Music, a streaming service recently launched in Indonesia and Brazil, with plans to expand into other markets.

TikTok’s popularity has made it a hub for the music industry to start profiting, by pushing it to give them a larger share of revenue from the ads running alongside user created music videos. A test was run by the app in Australia earlier this year, limiting the amount of music creators could access to determine the importance of songs to overall traffic.

Shares for Warner Music rose 2.7% recently, with both sides happy with new agreement.
