Telstra TV Opens To All Broadband Customers

Telstra has announced that it is opening up its smart TV box to more customers, provided they are on a post-paid mobile or mobile broadband service regardless of their internet provider.

Previously, customers needed to have a Telstra home broadband connection to take advantage of the service.

Now, regardless of which internet service provider (ISP) in use, consumers with a Telstra ID can now experience free-to-air TV, movie streaming, 4K content support, live sport, music and more.

Developed in collaboration with US company Roku, the third-gen smart TV box converts a standard TV into a smartTV with a content library from various sources including Netflix, Stan, Foxtel Now, Kayo, Telstra Box Office and more.

It also provides built-in storage to enable pause or replay of live TV  and the latest version also includes a Wi-Fi enabled remote with integrated voice control.

Telstra claims that it has delivered more than 1.4 million Telstra TVs to Australian homes.

As part of its T22 strategy, customers will be able to purchase TelstraTV outright ($216) or via a 24-month plan ($9/month).

Additionally, customers who purchase and activate a Telstra TV before 26 August 2019, will receive $125 Telstra TV Box Office credit.
