Telstra has kicked off a Spotify app on its Telstra TV operation. With the new app for Spotify, members can access Spotify’s 50 million tracks 450,000 podcasts – all directly from their telly.

Telstra TV Smart Search is claimed to be Australia’s first integrated live-TV catch-up, and on-demand search function. It allows simultaneous search across TV, movies, and people. This includes free-to-air, catch-up TV, Netflix, Foxtel Now, Stan, Kayo Sports, Telstra TV Box Office, Hayu, Animelab, and DocPlay.

Telstra said its Telstra TV Smart Search service, which it claims is “Australia’s first integrated live TV, catch-up, and on-demand search function” also lets users “search simultaneously for movies, TV and people.

Users can also take things up a notch through the voice-control built into the Telstra TV’s Wi-Fi-enabled remote. They can control, play and search by voice – just ask to search, play and pause movies and TV shows, switch between apps “and much more”.

Telstra TV costs $84 a month for a 200GB data service (with a minimum cost of $2115) or $99 a month for unlimited data with a minimum cost of $2475.
