TCL is targeting Australian households ahead of summer with a new range of AI-powered air conditioners that the company says can reduce energy consumption by up to 37% while providing automated temperature control.

One of the key features is Smart Voice Control, which uses an offline voice module to respond to commands without the need for an internet connection. TCL says users can control functions such as temperature settings through voice commands without relying on a smartphone app or cloud connection.

The VoxIN range also incorporates AI technology that learns household usage patterns and preferred temperatures. According to TCL, this allows the system to automatically make adjustments to personalise comfort levels, while also improving energy efficiency.

The company claims its T-AI energy management system, combined with inverter technology and Eco Mode, can deliver an energy-saving rate of 37% compared to models without the AI energy-saving features.

As households face higher electricity consumption during summer, TCL is positioning the technology as a way to reduce unnecessary cooling. The system is designed to scale back cooling once the desired temperature has been reached, rather than continuing to operate at full capacity.

The VoxIN also includes TCL’s “I Feel” temperature control which measures temperature at the remote control. This means the air conditioner responds to conditions around the user instead of simply measuring the temperature immediately surrounding the indoor unit.

Motion sensing and intelligent airflow can also direct cooled air towards occupants or away from them to reduce uncomfortable cold drafts.

TCL has added a Sleep Mode that automatically adjusts temperature, fan speed and display brightness during the night. A Smart Arrive/Leave Home Mode can also switch the system on as users approach home and turn it off after they leave.

The TCL Home app can give a real-time view of energy consumption, allowing users to monitor their household usage and identify opportunities to reduce their power consumption.

TCL Electronics Australia Managing Director Hawke Zhang said the VoxIN range had been designed around the way Australian households use air conditioning, particularly during the hotter months.

The new TCL VoxIN Air Conditioning Series is available in four capacities ranging from 2.6kW to 7.2kW, with prices starting at $959.
