Microsoft said that storage issues are affecting Azure services in the Eastern United States, after earlier issues affected its cloud-based services globally.
As originally reported by VentureBeat, Microsoft said that a subset of customers using its East US datacentre may experience difficulties accessing Storage accounts and Virtual Machines due to a “power event affecting a single scale unit.” A wide range of Storage-dependent Azure services from Microsoft are also affected.
Earlier, the company reported that service management operations were impacted globally due to their reliance on Storage from Azure. A “software error” was identified as the potential cause.
The issues with Azure follow a widespread outage of the S3 storage system from Amazon Web Services earlier this month, which Amazon identified as being caused by a single employee’s error.
