Sony’s new WF-1000XM6 true wireless earbuds could be just weeks away, according to several leaks that point to a February launch and a familiar premium price tag.

French deals site Dealabs reports Sony will open pre-orders on February 12, with general availability from February 23.

The same leak claims a launch price of US$329 (roughly A$495), about US$30 more than the WF-1000XM5 debuted at, while in Europe the price is tipped to be €299 (around A$520), making it slightly cheaper than the XM5 at launch.

The leaks gained more credibility after The Walkman Blog spotted WF-1000XM6 ear tip listings on parts supplier Encompass with a February 27 shipping date, suggesting the launch is now very close.

Sony’s WF-1000XM series is widely regarded as the benchmark for noise-cancelling earbuds. The current XM5 (pictured) remains one of the best in the category despite launching back in mid-2023.

Sony typically refreshes the range roughly every two years, making early 2026 a believable window for the next model.

According to Dealabs, the XM6 will be available in black and silver – the same colours as the XM5.

The XM6 will go head-to-head with other premium products like the Technics EAH-AZ100 and Apple’s AirPods Pro range.
