Sony’s next-generation flagship wireless earbuds, the WF-1000XM6, have surfaced online after a premature retail listing revealed images, pricing clues and a handful of specifications.

The leak, first spotted on Thai retailer Power Buy and shared by The Walkman Blog and Reddit users, suggests Sony’s long-awaited refresh is possibly weeks away.

While the product page has since been taken down, screenshots show the WF-1000XM6 in black and off-white colour options, alongside a noticeably redesigned charging case.

The earbuds move away from the rounded “truffle” look of earlier models, adopting a more pill-shaped form factor with a matte finish.

The charging case also appears slimmer and more angular, with a flat top and bottom instead of Sony’s previous curved design.

In terms of features, the leaked listing confirms active noise cancellation (ANC), ambient sound (transparency) mode, and IPX4 water resistance – the same rating as the current WF-1000XM5, making them suitable for workouts and light rain.

No detailed audio specifications were listed but images suggest Sony has added extra external microphones, potentially improving call quality and adaptive noise cancellation.

One detail that caught the attention is the slightly larger nozzle and eartip design. This could indicate a wider air channel, which may translate to stronger bass response – traditionally a weak point for compact true wireless earbuds.

Pricing information briefly shown on the Power Buy listing placed the WF-1000XM6 at THB 11,990 (around A$500), with other leaks pointing to international pricing in the range of US$320–$330.

The WF-1000XM5 launched in 2023, meaning the XM6 update is overdue by Sony’s usual release cycle.
