Sony Updates A9 Cam With New Ultra-Fast Mark II Model

Sony has unveiled the successor to its A9 mirrorless camera, which features a full-frame 24.2MP CMOS sensor, an updated BIONZ X image processor, improved body design, as well as an enhanced auto focus system.

Aimed at professional photographers looking for a device with a stronger emphasis on focus speed and burst rate, the A9 II will go for around $4,500 and will be shipping out sometime in November.

The A9 II’s mechanical shutter has been doubled in speed and is now capable of shooting at 10fps and features up to a 6,000 x 4,000 resolution with support for different aspect ratios.

The camera’s connectivity also gets a significant bump, now coming with gigabit Ethernet with a USB-C 3.2 port, as well as support for 5GHz Wi-Fi, on top of the previous 2.4GHz band.

Several other updated specs include the higher-res A7R IV: 5.5-stop in-body stabilisation, improved dust and water resistance, an upgraded touchscreen interface, improved AF tracking, as well as 14-bit depth and support for saving photos in RAW and JPEG file formats.

The camera also supports voice memos, giving professional photographers and enthusiasts the ability to record up to 60 seconds of audio to go along with the image.
