Sony Turns Up The Bass With New ULT Tower Party Speaker Line
Sony has expanded its ULT Power Sound range with three new high-powered party speakers, targeting consumers looking for louder audio, deeper bass and more flexible entertainment options for parties, DJ setups and karaoke.
The new line-up includes the flagship ULT Tower Max, ULT Tower 7 and ULT Tower 5.
The ULT Tower Max sits at the top of the range and uses three large circular woofers, front facing and rear facing, combined with a high-powered amplifier and a large speaker cabinet. Sony says the design, along with its ULT Duct technology, will deliver deeper bass and higher sound pressure.
Both the ULT Tower 7 and ULT Tower 5 offer scaled-down alternatives, with the latter being the more compact model in the new range.
Sony has also introduced 360-degree Party Sound on the ULT Tower Max and ULT Tower 7 which is designed to distribute audio around a room. The flagship model takes things a step further with its combination of four tweeters, mid-range speakers and a rear woofer to truly produce room-filling sound.
All three speakers feature Sony’s ULT button for four sound modes: ULT1, ULT2, FLAT and LIVE. ULT1 emphasises deep bass, ULT2 is designed to increase bass and sound pressure. FLAT is for a more neutral sound, while hitting LIVE will recreate the atmosphere of a live performance.

Users can even customise the sound through the Sony Sound Connect app, including adjustments using Custom EQ.
The new speakers are also designed with parties in mind. Sony’s Party Chain feature uses Auracast broadcast technology to connect a number of compatible Sony speakers, synchronising music and lighting. Compatible speakers can also be configured as a stereo pair.
Karaoke is supported through Sony’s optional ULTMIC1 microphone with connectivity including XLR, RCA and USB-C inputs.
The speakers are also portable with carry handles and the ability to be positioned either vertically or horizontally. The ULT Tower Max and ULT Tower 7 receive wider-tread wheels designed to make moving the larger speakers across different surfaces easier.
The ULT Tower 7 and ULT Tower 5 have IPX4 protection when positioned vertically, so there is some resistance to water splashes, hnady for outdoor use.
Battery life is rated at up to 30 hours for the ULT Tower 7 and up to 20 hours for the ULT Tower 5.
The range is available now with the ULT Tower 5 priced at A$549, the ULT Tower 7 at A$799 and the flagship ULT Tower MAX at A$1,999.
