Sony has released another Bravia TV software update that may finally resolve audio dropouts and lip-sync problems affecting some owners since June.

Software version 114.603.100.1 has begun rolling out in the US, with early user reports suggesting it corrects long-running eARC faults involving external devices and sound systems.

The problems emerged after Sony released firmware version 114.602.080.1 for selected Bravia TVs in late June.

Affected owners reported audio gradually falling out of sync, intermittent sound dropouts and Dolby Vision content refusing to play.

The common factor appears to be content played through an external HDMI source, such as an Apple TV 4K, before being passed through the television to a soundbar or AV system using eARC.

Sony released a firmware update in August which appeared to fix a Dolby Vision fault that caused black screens when playing certain content from external HDMI devices.

However, audio dropouts and synchronisation problems remained for some users.

Sony Japan subsequently acknowledged the lip-sync fault and said it would be addressed through a software update scheduled for September.

That statement did not specifically confirm that audio dropouts would be corrected, but initial feedback from US owners who installed the latest software suggests both issues may have improved.

The findings remain preliminary, with only a small number of owners reporting positive results. Sony has not provided detailed release notes confirming the full scope of the fix.

The latest update is also not yet available in every market. An Australian release date has not been announced.
