Pro-Ject has introduced the Debut Carbon The Original, a new addition to its established Debut turntable range that combines a minimalist design with precision-engineered components designed to improve vinyl playback.

The latest model retains the understated styling that has become a hallmark of the Debut series, while introducing a range of features aimed at reducing unwanted vibrations and improving tracking accuracy.

The turntable is built around a CNC-machined MDF plinth, providing a solid foundation designed to minimise resonance and maintain stability during playback.

One of its key features is an 8.6-inch carbon-fibre tonearm fitted with Pro-Ject’s Pick it S2 Moving Magnet cartridge.

The tonearm features a one-piece tube and headshell construction, which the company says creates a more rigid and stable connection to the cartridge.

Pro-Ject has also incorporated a low-friction aluminium bearing block and an adaptive anti-skating mechanism to help the stylus track record grooves more accurately.

A TPE-damped counterweight is designed to further improve performance, with Pro-Ject claiming it can reduce tonearm and cartridge resonances by as much as 50 per cent.

The Debut Carbon The Original features a heavy steel platter supported by a glass-fibre-reinforced ABS sub-platter.

A precision belt-drive system with an aluminium pulley is powered by an AC synchronous motor, which is designed to maintain consistent rotation while keeping operational noise to a minimum.

The turntable supports playback at both 33 and 45RPM, with speed changes performed manually.

Pro-Ject has included several accessories as standard, including a Connect it Phono E RCA cable, removable acrylic dust cover and felt mat.

The new model will be offered in three finishes: High Gloss Black, Satin Black and Real Wood Walnut.

The Debut Carbon The Original is scheduled to go on sale internationally in November, with prices starting at £499 in the UK, €599 in Europe and US$649 in the United States.

Australian pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed.
