Sonos Portable Speaker Leaked Ahead Of IFA
More details have emerged about Sonos’ rumoured portable Bluetooth speaker expected to be unveiled at IFA next month, including its predicted name.
The Sonos Move will be the networked audio company’s first Bluetooth and battery-powered speaker, giving listeners a portable, connect-and-play speaker that can also slot into an established Sonos network.
FCC filings revealed the existence of a Bluetooth-equipped Sonos speaker last week, but fresh images and details have now leaked via German tech blog WinFuture, which normally posts Microsoft related leaks and news.
Images believed to be official marketing shots show the new speaker with what looks to be a charging dock.
Other images posted on the site show the speaker’s expected form factor, a curved rectangular device with a small cutaway at the rear for a handle that also houses the power button, a network join button, and a Bluetooth/Wi-Fi switch.
The Move is also predicted to feature support for digital voice assistants Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
The Bluetooth speaker marks an expansion of Sonos’ range, along with recent collaborations the company has embarked on with Swedish furniture giant IKEA and architectural audio company Sonance.
Sonos went public last year and now have an obligation to shareholders to return profits, which may be contributing to the product range expansion.
