New Sonos Gear Tipped For IFA

Wireless multi-room audio company Sonos is expected to show off new products at this year’s IFA trade fair in Berlin with press events scheduled in New York and Germany in the lead up to the event.

A save the date card has been sent to press outlets for August 26 and 27 in New York and September 4 and 5 in Berlin, but no further detail has been provided about the potential new products.

Sonos recently collaborated with Swedish furniture maker IKEA on a bookshelf speaker and another speaker that doubles as a lamp.

The company also teamed up with architectural speaker maker Sonance on a range of in-wall, in-ceiling and waterproof outdoor speakers designed to connect with the Sonos Amp.

Neither of those two collaborations have gone on sale in Australia yet.

Earlier this year, Bloomberg reported the company may be working on a pair of high-end wireless headphones to go up against Sennheiser, Sony and Bose in a bid to chase new markets outside the home.

New hardware could also include a mid-range speaker to sit between the One and Play:5 speaker, after the Play:3 was discontinued last year.

IFA runs from September 6 until September 11.
