Samsung’s former vice president Ahn Seung-ho has filed a patent suit against his ex-employee.

Ahn founded Synergy IP in 2020, and has now teamed up with US-based Staton Techiya in the suit, which claims Samsung has infringed on ten of its patents, used in Samsung products, including wireless earphones, smartphones and personal voice assistant.

Ironically, Ahn “was known to have been a key figure behind Samsung’s patent war against Apple, Huawei and other global tech giants”, according to the Korea Herald. He was also instrumetal in the company’s global patent cross-licensing deal with Google.

Ahn left Samsung in 2019. He has said in a statement  that the patent suit does not take an “intentional stance toward Samsung”.
