Samsung have released the second Gear S2 Value Pack update, adding a range of functions from the Gear S3.
Owners of the previous generation smartwatch from Samsung will be able to take advantage of a range of new features, including the ability to download the Gear S3’s preloaded watch faces from the Galaxy Apps store.
The Alti-Barometer app adds the ability to track outdoor activities and measure air pressure, while the Reminders app allows users to create and manage tasks and to-do lists.
Improvements have been made to the Gear S2’s S Voice functionality which will now process commands in real time, and the new voice-input option lets users send dictated texts and create voice recordings.
Handwriting is now supported through Handwriting mode, letting users write messages without waiting for each individual letter to be converted to text. The Gear S2 also lets users add sketches to their messages, or choose from the updated list of 180 emojis.
Samsung’s health app S Health also gains a range of new features, including the ability to automatically recognise more activities, count reps for gym-standard exercise, Pace Coaching for runs or jogs, and a stretching guide.
The update also improves support for widgets, safety features and a library of over 100 games.
Samsung Gear S2 users in major markets are able to download the update now, with availability extending to all markets in the coming weeks.
