Samsung Gains 30% Share Of Global TV Market For The First Time
According to the Samsung Electronics Sustainability Report 2020, the brand gained more than 30% market share of the global TV market for the first time in 2019. This also marked Samsung’s 14th consecutive year as the top TV vendor in the world.
In the premium TV market Samsung is even stronger. In 2019 it was also the number-one premium TV vendor globally, having 52.4% of the total market.
While Samsung has long been a leading player in TVs, they made a number of important updates over the past year to continue to appeal to the changing needs of customers.
For instance, Samsung improved consumer accessibility by developing additional accessibility short-cut functions on their TVs, such as a screen reader that uses remote control buttons and multiple sound outputs.
In keeping with increasing concern about the environment and global warming, Samsung also applied an upcycling design to its TV packaging, allowing them to be transformed into small pieces of furniture or kennels for pet use. In addition, Samsung now uses sustainable materials for its packaging, including bioplastics and sustainably sourced paper.
In 2020 Samsung has rolled updated versions of its 8K QLED TVs, 4K and Crystal UHD TVs, and lifestyle TVs, including The Frame and The Serif.
