Samsung Follows Apple And Ditches Adapter, Headphones In Galaxy 21 Boxes
Samsung may have mocked Apple for not offering free headphones or a wall adapter in its iPhone 12 boxes, but it has quickly followed suit by excluding the same accessories from its line of Galaxy 21 smartphones.
The South Korean tech giant won’t be including a complimentary power adapter or set of headphones in the upcoming series of 2021 phones, according to filings spotted by Tecnoblog.
First indications of Samsung’s lack of Galaxy 2021 accessories were discovered in Brazilian regulatory filings, but it is understood it will be a blanket rule across all global handsets.
Samsung was previously rumoured to be ditching headphones but many thought it would still include the power adapter in the box.
The Galaxy S21 is Samsung’s next flagship smartphone and is expected to be released in late January.
Apple reportedly made the decision to scrap power adaptors and complimentary headphones to offset the expenses of 5G support on its new iPhones. It appears Samsung is making the same cutbacks next year.
In October, Samsung used Apple’s decision to ditch power adapters in the iPhone 12 boxes as a tongue-in-cheek marketing ploy to promote its own Galaxy smartphones.
After the launch of the iPhone 12 revealed the box would no longer contain earphones or a wall adapter, Samsung started sharing social media advertisements which pointed out its Galaxy phones do in fact come with a charger.
“Your Galaxy does give you what you are looking for. From the most basic as a charger, to the best camera, battery, performance, memory and even 120Hz screen on a smartphone,” the ad on Facebook read.
The caption was accompanied by a picture of a Samsung wall charger with the words: “Included with your Galaxy”.
