Revenge, Downton Abbey: Quickflix Streams Disney, BBC TV
Quickflix (QFX) announced new agreements with Walt Disney Australia, NBC Universal and BBC Worldwide ANZ to license popular TV series, adding to its content streaming line up.
Content licensed under the agreements include Downton Abbey, Parks and Recreation, Mrs Brown’s Boys; Revenge and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D; Sherlock, Orphan Black and Doctor Who. Many of these series are currently showing on Foxtel.
The TV series can be streamed via the Quickflix pay-per-episode service and on “Season Pass”.
The local streaming service has penned a multi-year deal to license drama content with BBC Worldwide ANZ, Quickflix CEO Stephen Langsford said.
“The content will service increasing demand from our existing customers and attract new customers to Quickflix.”
“We know customers increasingly want to instantly watch movies and premium TV series on their device of choice.”
Quickflix is seeking to boost user numbers after running into severe financial troubles last year, but announced growth in its last quarter.
The streaming is available on LG and Samsung Smart TVs; Blu-ray players; game consoles; smartphones and tablets.
Langsford said he was “delighted” to be entering these new content deals adding to our existing deals with HBO.
