Ring Intercom Launches In Australia To Tackle Apartment Delivery Problems
Ring has launched its Ring Intercom in Australia, targeting apartment residents who want remote control over building access and more visibility when visitors or delivery drivers arrive.
The Amazon-owned smart home security brand says the new device is designed for compatible apartment intercom systems and allows residents to see, speak to and grant access to visitors through the Ring app, whether they are at home, at work or travelling.
The launch comes as apartment dwellers continue to face delivery access problems.
Amazon research claims 79% of Australians living in apartments find it stressful waiting for deliveries when they are not home and cannot grant building access. It also found 89% would value being able to let delivery drivers into their building remotely via a phone.

Ring Intercom includes Live Video View and Two-Way Talk, allowing users to visually confirm who is buzzing before unlocking the building entrance. It also works with Echo Show devices for video monitoring and communication.
The device is being pitched as renter-friendly, with both audio and video versions designed for DIY installation in under 45 minutes and no structural changes required. Ring says users do not need to drill into walls or arrange professional installation.
Ring Intercom also includes Quick Replies, letting residents send preset messages to visitors or delivery drivers when they cannot answer. With a Ring Protect subscription, users can access additional features including Video History, Visitor Snapshot and Voicemail. Plans start at $4.95 per month.

Amazon’s research also found 76% of apartment residents missed one or more parcels in their last 10 deliveries, while 58% had stayed home from work or adjusted their workday to collect a parcel. A further 26% said they had spent 30 minutes or more recovering deliveries.
Ring Intercom is available now in Australia for $189. Customers can check whether their existing apartment intercom is compatible through Ring’s online compatibility checker.
The launch follows Amazon’s recent expansion of its Blink smart security range in Australia, including the Blink Battery Doorbell 2K+, which offers 2K video, head-to-toe viewing and battery-powered installation from $109.
Blink has also introduced the Solaris 2K+ solar-powered camera system, starting from $59 for the solar accessory and $169 bundled with an Outdoor 2K+ camera.
