British hi-fi specialist Rega has launched its long-awaited Mercury pre-amplifier and Solis power amplifier, completing the company’s latest reference-level system alongside the Aura phono stage, Isis CD players and Naia turntable.

The Mercury pre-amplifier, engineered with an ultra-low noise floor, promises exceptional dynamic range, preserving subtle musical details rather than masking them with distortion.

Mercury also features a high-performance DAC, a discrete headphone amplifier and a full-colour IPS display, offering versatility for modern hi-fi setups.

According to Rega, the Mercury’s circuitry draws on four decades of electronics development, with design elements traced back to the original Elicit amplifier of the 1990s.

Its fully discrete, symmetrical signal path incorporates ultra-low noise transistors and high-quality components, including Wolfson DACs capable of handling 24-bit/192kHz PCM and DSD64.

The Solis power amplifier is described as the muscle behind the new reference duo.

Hand-built in England, it delivers 168W per channel into 8 ohms (305W into 4 ohms) via twelve high-current output transistors and dual custom toroidal transformers.

Rega’s engineers have spent four years fine-tuning the circuit, ensuring a clean, engaging signal path by isolating sensitive pre-amplifier circuitry from high-current power stages.

The Solis supports both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs and is compatible with the Mercury preamp as well as the Rega Aethos stereo power amplifier.

Both amplifiers are housed in minimalist, CNC-machined aluminium cases, finished in black, and come with extensive protection circuitry.

The pair is now shipping to UK retailers, with global availability expected in early 2026.
