Qualcomm To Debut New Smartwatch Chipset
Component manufacturer, Qualcomm, is tipped to unveil a new chipset for wearable devices in September – hardware set to pave the way for next-generation Wear OS smart watches.
According to 9to5Google, several tech insiders have received an invite to Qualcomm’s September 10th event, teasing wearable applications.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset has primarily powered Google’s Wear OS platform for the past few years, with many consumers aching for a revamped version.
The succeeding chipset is tipped to feature several improvements – e.g. increased battery life and faster processing power.
As previously reported, Google is set to unveil a new smartwatch later this year, and some commentators assert it may feature Qualcomm’s new chipset.
Consumers will have to hold their breath until September, for further information about the future of Wear OS smartwatches.
