PS Audio has entered the subwoofer category for the first time, launching the Foundry F12 – a sealed 12-inch model to take on premium rivals such as SVS, REL and MartinLogan.

Priced at US$2,749 (around A$4,200 before local taxes and shipping), the Foundry F12 positions itself as a high-end option for serious two-channel and home theatre systems rather than a budget, high-output bass box.

Unlike many competitors that emphasise maximum SPL, PS Audio says the F12 is designed around control and in-room accuracy.

The sealed enclosure houses a custom long-throw 12-inch driver powered by a 1,000-watt continuous amplifier (1,800W peak power supply).

Maximum output is rated at 113dB (2m ground plane), with low-frequency extension specified at -6dB at 20Hz anechoic, and flat to below 20Hz in-room with room gain.

A key feature is built-in DSP room correction managed through the new Foundry control app (iOS and Android). Users can adjust crossover, delay, phase and parametric EQ, or run an auto-EQ function using their smartphone microphone to compensate for room-induced bass peaks and nulls.

Connectivity includes RCA, balanced XLR and high-level speaker inputs, allowing integration with both stereo hi-fi systems and AV receivers.

An optional US$199 WiSA transmitter enables wireless operation, while built-in sub outputs and a US$99 stacking kit support multi-sub configurations.

Weighing 35kg and available in satin black or white, the F12 is compact for a high-performance sealed design but clearly aimed at enthusiasts who prioritise integration and tonal accuracy over sheer output per dollar.

Australian availability and local pricing are yet to be confirmed.
