The price of the new premium Samsung 77″ 4K QD-OLED TV is tipped to be close to $7,999 in Australia, if US pricing is anything to go by.
Last night Samsung announced that their new 77″ S95C model TV is set to go on sale in the US for US$4,500 – and that includes a free professional installation.”
At this stage, it’s not known when the S95C, which is the first 77″ 4K TV based on QD-OLED display technology, will go on sale in Australia.
The new premium model, which was shown first at CES 2023, is set to be a key product in the battle with LG Electronics in the premium TV market, as the two big South Korean brands look to grow share.
Samsung Display is so confident of their potential success with this TV that is expected to boost QD-OLED production capacity by 50 per cent by 2024.
In 2022, both Samsung and Sony released 55″ and 65″ QD-OLED models, which quickly generated excellent reviews because they were seen as being up to 30 per cent brighter than competitors.
Samsung is also tipped to launch a cheaper 77″ QD-OLED known as the S90C, pricing for this version has not been released.
The battle, which is set to centre on which is best – LG’s OLED TVs or Samsung’s new QD-OLED – is set to be a key issue this year.
We are still waiting for LG to confirm pricing and availability of its newly-updated G3 4K OLED TV, which offers improved picture quality, due to the introduction of new MLA (micro lens array) technology?
Tony Brown, the head of LG Australia’s Marketing for TVs, has not commented at this stage on his strategy for OLED TVs in Australia.
As for availability of the Samsung S95C QD-OLED, retailers are expecting a May launch, though Samsung hasn’t confirmed that yet.
