Logitech Expands Gaming Range With New Mechanical Keyboard
Logitech has added another option to its growing gaming accessories portfolio with the introduction of the G316 X 98 mechanical keyboard, a compact model aimed at players seeking high performance without sacrificing essential functionality.
Scheduled to launch on 30 June 2026, the keyboard will be available in black and white finishes. Based on the US launch price of US$119.99, Australian pricing is expected to be around A$185 to A$200, depending on local taxes and retailer pricing.
The new model adopts a 98 per cent layout, retaining a dedicated number pad while reducing the overall footprint compared with a traditional full-sized keyboard. The design is intended to free up desk space without compromising productivity or gaming performance.
A major focus of the keyboard is speed. Logitech has equipped the device with support for an 8,000Hz polling rate, enabling more frequent communication between the keyboard and computer. This feature is particularly relevant for competitive gamers looking to minimise input delay.

Buyers can choose between tactile and linear mechanical switches. The tactile option provides more feedback during key presses, while the linear variant delivers a smoother and lighter keystroke. The keyboard also supports hot-swappable switches, allowing users to replace the factory-installed switches with compatible alternatives without replacing the entire board.
To improve typing comfort and acoustics, Logitech has incorporated a gasket-mounted design along with internal sound-dampening materials. These additions help reduce unwanted vibration and metallic noise often associated with mechanical keyboards.
A small dot-matrix display positioned in the top-right corner provides quick access to system information and settings. Adjacent controls allow users to adjust volume, media playback, brightness and polling rate directly from the keyboard, reducing the need to navigate software menus.
Durability has also been addressed through the use of PBT keycaps, which are generally more resistant to wear and shine than standard ABS plastic alternatives. RGB lighting is included, featuring individual key illumination and a customisable light bar with 30 separate lighting zones.
Further personalisation is available through Logitech’s G Hub software, which enables users to create macros, remap keys, configure game-specific settings and customise lighting effects.
Weighing 880 grams without the cable, the keyboard connects via USB-A and supports systems running Windows 10 or later, as well as macOS 12 and newer versions.
The launch follows continued demand for compact gaming peripherals that balance performance, customisation and desk space efficiency. As manufacturers increasingly target both gamers and hybrid workers, products such as the G316 X reflect the growing popularity of smaller layouts without sacrificing premium features.
