Panasonic Launches 4K Blu-ray Player & Full HD Recorder Combo

Panasonic is adding a 4K Ultra HD Premium Blu-ray Player and Full HD Recorder to its range of home theatre products.

Described as the “ultimate home entertainment solution”, the DMR-UBT1 combines high resolution 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray playback with Full HD recording, a Twin HD Tuner and a 2TB hard drive.

“This unique new model provides Australians with incredible quality and convenience through the brilliant viewing experience of 4K; as well as the versatile smarts of Panasonic’s Full HD Recorders– all in the one device,” said Panasonic’s AV and Imaging Category Manager Doug Campbell.

Like Panasonic’s range of 4K Blu-ray Players announced earlier this year, the DMR-UBT1 features the HCX (Hollywood Cinema Experience) Processor for Ultra HD Blu-ray, which the company said “delivers the most accurate movie playback, true to the filmmaker’s intention.”

4K Direct Chroma up-scaling is able to display 2K content in 4K-like quality, while the HDR Adjustment function helps to faithfully reproduce the dark and bright areas of a scene in different viewing environments.

The recording functionality of the DMR-UBT1 allows two TV programs to be recorded at once, and also supports recording while watching Netflix or other content. Up to 1370 hours of HDTV can be recorded, and an external hard drive can be connected for additional storage.

Recordings can be wirelessly sent to devices in a house or streamed anywhere in the world using Panasonic’s TV Anytime and the Media Centre App. The DMR-UBT1 also supports Series Recording and Keyword Recording.

Along with these playback and recording functionalities, Panasonic packed in screen-mirroring functionality from Android devices into the DMR-UBT1, as well as built-in Wi-Fi, DLNA, a web browser and high quality music playback.

The DMR-UBT1 will be available in late September from elading consumer electronics retailers for RRP $1,099.
