Oh Jesus! Google Voice Has A Major Problem

Google who has a reputation for creating what some say is a “Google Religion” appears to have a major problem with their Google Home speakers not able to recognise who Jesus is.

But guess what? Google will tell you everything you want to know about Islam, Buddha, Muhammad and even Satan.

Christians are outraged.

When people asked their speaker ‘Who is Jesus?’ the general response from Google Home was ‘I’m not sure how to help you with that.’

One television producer in Nashville compared the theological knowledge of Google Home and Amazon Alexa during a Facebook Live video.

The producer said Alexa could pull up information online about Jesus, Google Home said it had nothing to say – something which needed addressing ‘immediately’ he said.

While Jesus may be one of the most famous figures in history, it now appears the programmers at Google don’t know who Jesus is, nor has Google said which Country their programming for their Google voice activated speakers are done in.

‘It’s kinda scary, it’s almost like Google has taken Jesus and God out of smart audio,’ Brentwood-based producer and author David Sams told Fox news.

Sams said his Google Home knew who he was but could not identify Jesus.

‘Google knew who I was, but Google did not know who Jesus was, and Google did not know who God was,’ Sams said.

According to Google their Google Assistant relies on a variety of sources including what Google ‘thinks’ will satisfy users’ queries.

To do this it uses an algorithm and machine learning to give each user results tailored for them, based on a history of their search results and the most popular, factual websites .

It sometimes extracts ‘quick answers’ from third-party pages. These are displayed as ‘Featured snippets’ at the top of the search results.

Google determines pages to be considered featured snippets, so not all sites are included.

Certain features are prioritised for certain people as they are deemed more relevant to their interests.

However, there are some issues with the system.

According to searchengineland, if you ask Google Home ‘Who is Steve Jobs?’ it says ‘Steven Paul ‘Steve’ Jobs was an American businessman, inventor, and industrial designer.’

However, it does not mention that he worked for Apple.

This appears to be because Apple is not mentioned in the first sentence of Job’s biographical information on Wikipedia.

Google Home does talk about Jesus when asked about the Last Supper or Saint Peter, other users claim.

‘It knows who Saint Peter and Paul and the rest of the crew, but it won’t talk about Ol’ Yeezy. Christ, Jesus, Jesus Christ; nothing’, wrote Reddit user ‘EvilVegan’.

‘Muhammad, Buddha, Smith, Koresh, Vissarion, anything else; sure. As an atheist, this offends me’, the user wrote.

Another user, ‘Monicakmtx’ also asked ‘Who is Jesus’ and the speaker said ‘sorry I can’t help with that yet’.
