Nokia’s Next Flagship May Feature 3D Audio

Nokia could be set to challenge Samsung and LG at the top-end of the market with its next flagship smartphone.

According to an unconfirmed source of Nokiapoweruser, HMD Global, the Finnish company that acquired the rights to the Nokia brand, will launch new 3D audio technology dubbed ‘OZO Audio’ in the upcoming Nokia 9.

OZO Audio provides “immersive high fidelity 360° sound” Nokia claims on its website, and the technology can be adapted for smartphones as well as cameras. The 360° audio also makes it suitable for use in virtual reality applications.

Other rumoured features of the smartphone include a 22-megapixel dual-lens rear camera, an iris scanner and IP68 certification. It is also rumoured to feature the same Snapdragon 835 processor as the Samsung Galaxy S8, along with a 5.5-inch QHED OLED display.

The news follows the launch of three new Nokia smartphone earlier this year, including the mid-range Nokia 6.
