HMD Global Tease Next Stage In Nokia Comeback

HMD Global announced the details of their first Nokia-branded smartphone several days ago. However, since the Nokia 6 is unlikely to make it outside the Chinese market, they’ve already lined up the date for the reveal of what many expect will be a device released in Western markets.

The Finnish firm has posted a video to Facebook teasing the occasion, showing off the newly-announced Nokia 6 and telling customers to “save the date” of February 26th.

It’s unknown how many devices might be revealed on the 26th but HMD has previously indicated it plans to spend $500 million over the next three years on marketing Nokia-branded smartphones and tablets so it’s likely that we’re looking at several announcements.

When you consider that the announcement will come a day before the Mobile World Congress kicks off in Barcelona, it’s a scenario that seems even more likely.

ChannelNews reached out to HMD Global for comment about their plans for the Australian market and did not receive a response in time for publication.
