HMD Global, Nokia’s parent company, has announced a smartphone launch event on December 5 in Dubai via Twitter with the hashtag #ExpectMore leading many to believe one of the devices is the upcoming Nokia 8.1.
The tweet came from HMD chief Juho Sarvikas, the minimalist announcement depicts three silhouettes of mobile phones, the place, the date, and “Save the date” at the bottom.

Users online are debating whether the three devices are the upcoming Nokia 8.1 or 7.1 Plus.
The Nokia 8.1 is the upcoming global variant of the Nokia X7 launched in China recently.
When the brightness is boosted, the image reveals chamfered edges on all three devices and two appear to have notches present.
Apart from the Nokia 8.1/X7, the Nokia 7.1 has chamfered edges and a notch so the 7.1 Plus could be one of the devices being showcased at the launch.
The third could potentially be an entry-level Nokia 2.1 Plus which recently passed FCC certification and is not expected to feature a notch.
Generally, flagship models are not revealed at the time of the year, so it seems unlikely that the much anticipated Nokia 9 will be unveiled at the event, although CAD-based renders confirmed earlier leaks that it will have a rounded screen.
More likely, HMD will reveal the Nokia 9 at MWC 2019 in Barcelona.
In addition to the launch announcement, Nokia also released a video inviting fans to join their new Community forum and leave a comment in the page’s threads and a lucky few will be selected for a 48 hour round trip to the launch in Dubai.
