HMD Global who are tipped to release their own house branded smartphone soon, has moved to use European based assembly for their Nokia XR212 smartphone.
While most of the components are manufactured in Asia, HMD Global is using a business based in Hungary to assemble their devices, similar to the way that Apple uses Foxconn to assemble their smartphones in India and China.
The move to manufacture the 5G device, outside of Asian manufacturers or assembly Companies, used by the bulk of mobile phone Companies is due to what HMD Global is describing as a need to deliver smartphones for data security-conscious customers.
The business has made a point of highlighting that the fact that, Europe had no large-scale smartphone manufacturing capability, as major companies like Apple and Samsung make their phones in Asia to keep costs down.
The only problem is that HMD Global has so far only managed to deliver a batch of 50 devices with a mere 30 going on open sale.
Each phone will be engraved with its own unique number in the series and comes in a frosted Platinum colour with its own limited-edition box.
The company already stores data in the European Union, with consumer and corporate data from all of its smartphones held and processed on servers in Finland since 2019.
The phone features a 6.49-inch IPS LCD screen with FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. XR 21 is equipped with a Snapdragon 695 chipset and features a 64MP main cam and an 8MP ultrawide module.
