New TomTom Fitness Tracker Adds Fat And Muscle Analysis

A new fitness tracker from TomTom claims to be the first on the Australian market to combine body composition analysis with step, sleep and heart-rate tracking.

Adding a feature typically only found in dedicated scales or expensive technology, users of the TomTom Touch will be able to receive measures of body fat and muscle mass just by touching the device on their wrist. The company said the TomTom Touch aims to help users answer the question: “Is what I’m doing, doing anything for me?”

“We all know that weight doesn’t tell the whole story,” said Chris Kearney, VP APAC at TomTom Consumer. “Two people with the same weight can have completely different levels of muscle and fat in their body. TomTom Touch gives more clarity by tracking body composition, so you can really tell whether your efforts are having any effect.”

Body composition analysis can help give an understanding of an individual’s fitness level, and how it is changing over time. TomTom’s new device is designed to be worn constantly, and includes a sport mode for running, cycling and other physical activities.

The TomTom Touch comes with a range of colourful straps and is available now from the TomTom online store at a recommended retail price of $219.
