Announced at E3, Microsoft has revealed it’s working on the next-generation Xbox console – a device sources state could launch around 2020.
According to Thurrott, Microsoft’s next Xbox (codenamed ‘Scarlett’) will launch late 2020, as part of a “family of devices” – e.g. similar to Xbox One derivatives.
Sources claim the suite of new Xbox hardware will release in two years time.
Some commentators assert the release is a touch too early, with the Xbox One X only launching November last year.
Others claim it’s a necessary manoeuvre for Microsoft to maintain pace with Sony’s PlayStation, who boasts notably nigher market share.
Should the next PlayStation launch later than 2020, others argue a 2020 Xbox release may provide Microsoft a leg up.
