New Fines As QLDers Parking In EV Charging Bays

Queensland motorists have been taking advantage of the influx of new EV charging stations – by parking in them for long periods of time.

The Queensland Government has been forced to introduce new fines outlawing the practice, after frustrated EV owners lodged numerous complaints that they have been unable to find an unoccupied charging bay. Now, savvy parking will face fines of $2,757.

“You don’t see electric vehicles parking across petrol bowsers to prevent access and leaving them there for hours, so we shouldn’t be seeing it in reverse,” Transport Minister Mark Bailey said

“These rules will become even more important with EV ownership growing every day in Queensland.”
