NBN To Create 80,000 New Businesses By 2021

The NBN Co asserts Australia is “in the grip” of a “nation-wide digital transformation”, with theĀ “nbn effect” tipped to create up to 80,000 new businesses by 2021.

Combining positive business and employment effects, the nbn is forecast to boost Australia’s GDP by up to $10.4 billion on completion.

In conjunction with the NBN Co and AlphaBet, the latest ‘Connecting Australia‘ report claims new business growth in areas connected to the nbn accelerated twice as fast as the national average – 5,400 new businesses were reportedly created in 2017.

The report asserts the nbn has transformed Australia’s workforce – prompting the creation of 9,700 new “digital economy jobs” in 2017.

This number is tipped to grow to 148,000 by 2021 – e.g graphic designers, electronic trade workers and programmers.

Completed nbn rollout is also forecast to “create a nation of flexible workers” – an additional 47,300 people working from home in 2021.
