Monitor A Whole Room With New D-Link Wi-Fi Camera

D-Link have announced a new Full HD Wi-Fi Camera featuring a 180-degree field of view.

With a wider perspective than the 130-degree lens of competing cameras, D-Link claims the DCS-2530 can be used to monitor a whole room with fewer blind spots.

A built-in microSD card slot compatible with microSDXC cards up to 128GB allows video to be recorded locally based on event triggers like sound or motion, on a specific schedule, or continuously.

The camera is also compatible with the mydlink lite app for live video streaming without a subscription fee.

“Users of the new DCS-2530L can enjoy monitoring their home in Full High Definition video with the widest viewing angle available at a full 180 degrees, so not only can you see and monitor more of your home with a single camera, you can receive alerts via your mobile device wherever you are in the world, and see what’s going on via the free mydlink lite app,” said D-Link ANZ MD Graeme Reardon.

Even though a 180-degree lens would typically produce ‘fisheye’ video, D-Link’s “unique de-warping technology” makes the video more viewable while minimising distortion.

Night vision using two IR LEDs allows the DCS-2530L to see up to five metres in the dark, and a Wi-Fi Signal Locator feature can guide users to the best location to place the camera with a reliable internet connection.

D-Link’s DCS-2530L is available now for RRP $299.95 on the D-Link website and from authorised D-Link retailers and resellers.
