Microsoft Kills The Future Of Windows Phone

Microsoft has announced that the Windows phone will not receive any new features or build any new models in the future.

Microsoft’s corporate VP of the Operating Systems Group, Joe Belfiore announced the news on Twitter, stating that the company does not see the phone as a priority.

While the Windows 10 phone will not receive updates that adds new features or apps, Microsoft will still support it via security updates and bug fixes.

Belfiore also said that the move to end major support for the Windows 10 phone means that consumers may shift to other products due to the lack of support, but businesses the use the phone may remain.

The Windows 10 phone never enjoyed the success of its competition (iPhone and Android), mainly due to the low number of apps and failure to tempt consumers to shift over.

Recently Microsoft has been focusing on its Microsoft Edge browser app for iOS and Android devices.
