Meta Smartwatch Tipped For 2026 Launch
Meta is reportedly preparing to enter the smartwatch market this year, reviving a project it shelved several years ago.
According to a report from The Information, the device is expected to focus on health tracking and deep integration with Meta AI.
The smartwatch could launch later this year, though Meta has not publicly confirmed the plans.
Rumours of a Meta-branded smartwatch first surfaced in 2021, with leaked images appearing in 2022 before the project was reportedly scrapped amid cost-cutting and restructuring across the company’s Reality Labs division.
Meta has since laid off thousands of staff and scaled back parts of its metaverse ambitions, shifting its focus more on wearables and AI.

The revived smartwatch is said to have been greenlit during a recent strategy meeting at CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s home in Hawaii.
While details remain scarce, the device is expected to include fitness and health-tracking features similar to those found on the Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch and Google Pixel Watch, alongside built-in access to Meta’s AI assistant.
The move would mark a significant expansion of Meta’s hardware ecosystem, which already includes Quest VR headsets, Oakley Meta Vanguard and the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.

It’s suggested that a smartwatch could act as a companion device to Meta’s glasses, potentially enabling gesture controls, real-time health data overlays and tighter AI integration across devices.
If launched this year, Meta’s smartwatch will enter a highly competitive market dominated by Apple, Samsung, Google and Garmin.
Meta is also reportedly planning updated Ray-Ban ‘Display’ smart glasses (pictured above) later this year. Fully fledged AR glasses are said to be targeting a 2027 debut.
