Peter Fox, Linfox’s Executive Chairman, has offered his praise of Amazon Australia’s “really smart” logistics arrangements, claiming the trucking company’s volumes have spiked since the e-commerce giant’s local entry.
Linfox has a logistics partnership with Australia Post, who is Amazon Australia’s primary delivery partner.
Speaking to The Australian Mr Fox affirms that whilst the trucking company does not have a direct relationship with Amazon Australia, it has felt follow-on benefits:
“Our volumes have picked up on the back of volume we do for Australia Post … because we are the intermodal provider at Australia Post”.
Fox also adds that Amazon Australia has been smart in their logistics partnerships, which has enabled quicker delivery speeds:
“Amazon have now got a much shorter supply chain to get deliveries. Instead of being couriered in by an aircraft from America they now have inventory in Australia and the consumer is getting delivery within 24 hours. Before that delivery would have taken three or four days”
“I think they [Amazon] have been really smart in terms who they align with and who they compete with”.
Yesterday Linfox announced a management shuffle, which appointed former COO, Mark Mazurek, the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. He is replacing Ms Annette Carey, who is being given a board position.
Fox states the transition affirms Linfox’s commitment to promote from within.
