LG Tipped To Release G6 Mini
New reports out of TechnoBuffalo claim that LG is planning to release a new smaller version of its flagship LG G6 smartphone.
According to TechnoBuffalo, “The device in question looks to feature a 5.4-inch display and a screen-to-body ratio just under 80 percent. The display will retain the 18:9 aspect ratio first introduced by the G6”.
“It’s unclear if the G6 mini will carry over the specs of its larger sibling, or feature hardware that’s more mid-range.”
“In LG’s pursuit to compete against Samsung’s Galaxy S8, it would make sense for the company to introduce an additional device that features the G6’s slick design. Not only would it be a more affordable entry into LG’s portfolio, but the handset’s smaller form factor may appeal to a wider audience,” they claim, citing confidential sources.
Given that LG only recently announced that the original G6 would be getting a bigger brother in the form of the G6 Plus, the existence of second splinter product aimed at those who prefer a small handset isn’t too unbelievable.
This supercharged version of the LG G6 features 128GB of onboard storage, 6GB of RAM and comes bundled with premium earphones (built by audio brand B&O PLAY) to take full advantage of the 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC capabilities of the smartphone.
In their most recent earnings report, LG saw returns from its smartphone division rise 10% to 14.8 million phones shipped during the quarter.
