First Look: Sonos Smart Speaker With Alexa Support

With plenty of prior leaks surrounding Sonos’ upcoming smart speaker, the most recent leak may offer individuals a first look of the device. The smart speaker is tipped to be officially unveiled at an event on October 4th.

Carsten Knobloch, a German blogger, states a reader sent him photos of the upcoming device, with Amazon’s smart assistant Alexa built in.

The image reveals a speaker grill which encompasses the outer section of the device. Affirming previous leaks, a touch interface is placed at the top.

The overall design of the smart speaker is very similar to the PLAY:1, and does not appear to be large nor overly bulky.

The leaked images seem to match an FCC filing for a device featuring the same play/pause and microphone icon interface. The FCC filing indicates the device will support “multiple voice platforms and music services”, implying the speaker may support other smart assistants in addition to Amazon’s Alexa.

Whilst the images are just leaks, consumers will only have to hold their breath until October 4th for full device specifications.
